Nicholas Martin Permaculture & Treasurer
Nick serves as manager of environmental policy for Xcel Energy, helping to guide the company’s clean energy strategy through integrated resource planning, investments in wind, solar and natural gas generation, and leadership in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He works with many of Xcel Energy’s large corporate customers on sustainability initiatives for energy, water and waste. Mr. Martin previously worked for Winrock International, an Arkansas-based nonprofit organization known for its work in international economic development, sustainable agriculture and natural resource management. For Winrock he managed projects in Russia Far East forestry, renewable energy in the Caucasus, reducing deforestation in Africa, and developing environmental markets in China. Mr. Martin served as chief technical officer for the American Carbon Registry, a leading voluntary carbon registry. Earlier in his career he created and managed a forestry enterprise for the Zuni Indian Tribe, and worked in fisheries management for the Columbia River tribes. Mr. Martin holds an M.S. in Energy & Resources from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.A. in Music from Yale University.
